Ok. I've been working on archiving all the mods on the site all morning so they won't be gone and destroyed when the site dies. I'll get in contact with someone (probably Russ) and see if there's a place to put all the old mods on the new site. I know a few people still play the old games and FS-UK and AEM are the only reliable places you can find mods that old. All the mods with the pictures and descriptions will be safe in a folder on my desktop until they are needed.

I believe Russ made it clear the new site will have nothing to do with hosting mods...leaving modders to use modhub or whatever site they choose.

I made a mention of this over on the new AEM spin-off site and Ag Hauler (also known as Timbojigs here) contacted me and said that he'll talk to a few people and see if we can put the mods in a place over there, even if Russ doesn't want all these old mods on the new FS-UK.

As one door closes another one opens!

Had a great time over the years on this forum meeting lots of new people. The site has change a lot over the 8 years I’ve been on here, the chaos of all the new mods back in fs 11 to fewer but more quality mods for fs 13 onwards. Looking forward to the new site and a thank you for creating lots of memories.

Cheers matty500

I replied to your PM, but just to be aware: you would need the permission of each mod maker to do this. And please don't use an automated script or something like that to "scrape" our database - that will cost us a lot of money that we don't have..

I think it's a bit of a crazy endeavor anyway - 90% of those mods haven't been accessed in over a year.

We’re launching a new site which will be a hub for Farming Simulator players, creators, casual players, a virtual farm, a mod maker, a streamer or even an esports player -  FS-UK and FS Empire - the old and new - ...

Justo to say "see you soon" in the net, it was a good times and conversations held here, good people met and good friends for the future. As Spanish and In my seven years of playing, FS UK and their members will be remembered forever.

But the leaving of many friends from FSUK, in 2015 2017, we missed the path and starts the decline and we have the results here.

From that time, I switch and became an active member in the German community that fortunately, remains active and loyal to the initial spirit. People remains, good leaders like Kevin, Kastor, Andy and many others that has open their group and allow us to join and together, share our experiences, develop projects and with language automatic translation, communication is not a problem anymore. I really could be back in lsmodcompany community the initial spirit of The 13's in FS UK.

Good luck Russ, Oli and team with you new project. I wish you a big success.

I’ve been following this all the way through but I’m yet to make a comment, while im really sad to see fs-uk go I suppose everything has a life span, but I don’t have time to say how i truly feel now I’ll get round to it another time from my observations, Quick question is this new site with the mod search feature is this the same feature that you’ve talked about trying to implement into fs for a while now Russ? I know you said you where working on a mod search engine and there was even a site for it one time an i right which sounds exactly how I describe or am I just imagining that?

Talking about this? http://searchmods.com

Yeah I loved that website as soon as I found it (although it was never updated for FS19 mods), it’s just nice to be able to find a mod from any of the major mod hosting sites. It’d be especially useful as this new site isn’t going to host mods because, although the long term goal is for all mods to be on ModHub, sites like Modhoster won’t be going away anytime soon as far as I’m aware.

And to think I never knew about that link either! WOW that one had slipped passed and would have been handy for when I was playing the game.

That being said I do have a question about the new site!

If we come over and join, do we carry our original names from here or are these open for others to use.

Meaning I am and have been robbie here and other media's. Would be a shame to try and race to keep my name as it is?

Just a thought as not sure like everyone else, until the new site come live.

Still if the new site is going to be like a search engine would this auto download them to your game files like you mentioned a good few years ago like jgregg624 mentioned also. I know Giants mods are all in house and a very neet thing to have? if you are just downloading from the Hub! but to actually have this work from outside would be a great feature also.

re: Searchmods, it was a cool experiment and I might keep working on it if people like it Smiley

Robbie, nothing is "coming over" so it's a bit of a free for all. But if there are issues, for example someone pretending to be you, then feel free to email me and I'll fix it: [email protected].

Hi,

wow... that was an interesting story behind this site! Thank you for shaing, Russ!

As for my views:
I came here when there were many sites, where you could get mods, but only LS-UK was a "safe" place, meaning: The mods you got were high-quality, error free, and not stolen from somewhere else.
And i registered in paticular to thank dural for the FS11 more realistic mod. It was released shortly after the FS13 release, and FS11 looked so dated compared to FS13.... but FS11 MR was a totally different game.
Although i don't have that many posts here (and i took a trip down memory lane just now ...) , i particularly liked the discussions here. Being an independent site, you could also dicsuss topics, that were censored in the giants forums, like competing games.

I will definetly check out your new project!

Well seeing as my original account is now unusable (due to requiring e-mail verification which was still unchanged from the @razor e-mail from my moderator days) I've just registered a dupe account to share my parting thoughts.

Regarding the farm sim game I've no interest in the manure pile Herr Giants now churn out,  17 is the last game I bought and I haven't played that for over a year, actually over two now probably, I highly doubt I'll spend any of my hard earned on anything Giants release ever again.

As for FS-UK I've looked in a couple of times over the last year or so but with no interest in farm sim, zero interest in modding and even less in a three word story it's never been worth trying to reactivate my account..

For me personally the best  memories of being a member of fsuk were meeting and messing about in MP with Ady (Discoade), dave boughan, superbrian, nathan and siddo along with a few others I'm embarrassed to have now forgotten their names,  also had fun being part of a mod team though most of that time was spent on msn messenger.

Russ I wish you all the best with your new venture and I'll probably have a nose around once it's up and running.

To those past and present members (regulars, golds, MVP's, modders and moderators alike)  who I mutually liked and respected I wish you all the best for the future wherever you all end up.
To those members I don't...... Meh, whatever.. You'll know which category you fall in if you know me so we'll leave it at that.

So on that final note..

Au revoir FSUKers!  Wink

I think we all appreciate the hard work from yourselves and the team over the years, and opening this new website, suppose we can only be grateful you are actually starting a new thing rather than abandoning it completely. Good luck Russ and I along with many hopefully have just filled in the form for the new site.
