                                                                         Marwell Manor Farm

Hi and welcome to my new map........ a while ago I did a poll on my Facebook page on what maps you would like converted for Fs19....and my plans are to convert in this order Sandy bay, Oakfield , Shamrock.

I know myself that converted maps never have that same feel as a brand new one  so I set out to make a single player map for the community and myself to enjoy at the beginning of Fs19.

With giants making leaps and bounds in graphical quality and features in Fs19 I sat down for a while thinking of how I can improve my maps for the next generation................

Welcome to Rookery farm which is set in Hampshire Uk , this map is a real place like Oakfield but made with more precision and is far more streamlined and polished.

With this map i have used "Dorsets" way of making a dem which in my opinion is very accurate and probably the best but takes longer to do. There are 2 farms that will be fully modelled along with 2 stables (ready for you to place your horse placeable's) 2 sell points and all other Fs19 features. In the picture you can get the general idea of the layout....

At a later date I might even make a "Rookery Farm Extended" which will be in the purple area shown and will expand the area to "Low Hill Farm" and its surroundings but that is for another time.

The foundations of the map our complete with all models finished and the layout planned, no detail is added to the certain areas as i will be using Fs19 assets, so hopefully it will be easy to convert over.

To take the Uk maps to the next level I wanted to improve my models...........I have made my own road textures and spent hours making sure all the junctions are lined up and fit perfectly together making them a lot cleaner and polished . Everything in giants editor is all neatly placed and named also.
I have  taken selected models out of shamrock-Oakfield and cleaned them all up the best i can and made new models with brand new 1k tiled textures , the textures are so much  more detailed and means several buildings can use the same texture resulting in better performance and over all less in size.  Here you can see the the new models and textures in action!

This brings me to some bad news thou...... I want all my Fs19 textures and assets to be only used by the frontier design team. As all the models in my map are taken from the real areas I want them to be unique to that map your playing and many other reasons I wont list here. I will be releasing a lot of my models as placeables thou..........Of course you can still use all of my old Fs17 assets if you wish to.

For the time being I am limited to fs17 so a lot of textures and things will change when the new game comes out.

Hope you like the pictures...these are taken with shaders to help get that fs19 feel. There are also some real life pictures as well.

What a great allrounder you are, by making maps and not a few but by the looks of it loads of custom buildings and objects to go with it.
That is a hell of a lot of work you have given yourself there.
At a time when FS19 is about to be released I would be worried that Giants might be releasing a new editor to go with the new FS19 game.
So you might have to redo some of your work but you have made a great head start for FS19.
Looking great.

Thank you dorset and for creating such a good tutorial on how to do dems that way.......in my opinion it is probably one of the most accurate ways. The new Giants editor is more or less the same with a few added features so fingers crossed it I wont have to lose much of what I have done.

Any model, or map asset that "Oxygendavid" has made is not to be used in a non-Frontier Design map in Fs19.

David spends masses of time making these models from scratch. In Fs17 he allowed everyone to use his models, this was incredibly generous as not all modders do allow that. Yet 80% of the time maps were released with the majority of models all "Oxygendavid's"  models, and yet he was not even in the credits, nor did those map makers ever ask permission, or even send a simple thank you to David. Some of the time those other modders actually directed abuse at "Oxygendavid", even though without him, there maps would either contain no models or outdated models.

Modding has reached the stage where learning Blender or Maya is a must even for maps now. Also the expected quality of models has improved vastly compared with Fs13/15/17 and now into 19. It takes far more effort and skill to make these models.

David has also explained a few other reasons as well, in wanting to keep each map of his unique. However he does plan on releasing some of his map models as placeables, which will be available on GIANTS Modhub Prefab section.

I am so pleased to see this ... I've always liked real-world maps much more than "fictional-with-real-world-elements", Oakfield rather than Shamrock, and from that point of view I entirely understand why, for example,  seeing the Oakfield house plonked into some other map is jarring, especially to the creator.

The other behaviour that BulletBill refers to just boggles my mind ... why would anyone not ask permission and give credit? It's not as though OD is hard to contact, like is some who have moved on from FS modding, and as for the abuse ... words fail me. Angry

However, looking forward, I don't suppose you (you being Oxygen David) will be able to make it "Seasons Ready" unless and until Seasons is made for FS19.

Many thanks for all the hard work, that done so far and that yet to be done.

Great setting,  struggle to tell the ingame
pictures from the real life counterparts..
